Alaskan Railroad

The train was fabulous! So many wonderful landscapes! Just on and on and on! We met some really great people, including a couple from Vancouver who were cruise and RV junkies. They once did all the Carribean in 3 back to back cruises! Get off one ship, go to the next one, and so on. Also, they had already driven to Miami from Vancouver to get on said ship! They did the same in Europe where they went from Rome to Venice, got off that ship where they had breakfast, and then walked to and got on the next ship where they had lunch. They also crusied from Vancouver all the way down the West Coast, through the Panama Canal, and to Miami!

We don't have a picture of this anecdote, but this is a pretty good place to talk about it. We were rushing by and saw lakes, trees, a moose! mountains, pods, and junk. Tyler immediately pointed out how his Dad would be coercing the conductor into stopping the train so that he could pick up a transmission or something from an old car to bring all the way back to New Hampshire for one of his projects. As we whisked by a junk yard we both pointed and said "Junk yaarrrd!" Which was immediately followed my an Asian man behind us turning to us and repeating in staccato - "Junk. Yard. !" followed by a very proud grin! His relative stood behind him with a grin himself, half laughing at his elder and proud of him as well! A lovely little shared giggle and moment with a stranger.
