Lettuces

Bought some lettuces from the Somerville Winter Farmer's Market a few (a lot) of weeks back. It was pretty wilted by the time I put it in the ground. Tyler wondered why I bothered putting dead lettuce in the ground. Well these babies showed him! The purple lettuce and the Boston bibb perked right up after I pruned off the gone-by leaves. We bolstered their ranks with a few other varieties from Pemberton Farms. Which begs the question - is spinach considered a lettuce? or is it just spinach?

One single rose

I think we've had this rosebush for 4 years. I remember the purchase well. Over the years I have gotten buds and little droopy neck half hearted blooms. This year, I have this beauty! May be the only one I get, but I'll take it!

Super wedding magic

We had an amazing time at the wedding of our good friends K+D. While I have been apprehensive for weeks regarding the weather (who has a wedding in May on the water?!), the sun came out and OMG, the weather was absolutely perfect. Could not have asked for a better weekend on the water. We took full advantage and Tyler is now a beautiful lobster.

Let's get serious, Garden

It's time to get serious! Tyler and I went to Pemberton Farms yesterday, loaded up our cart and whipped out our Somerville Garden Club membership for 10% off. Pretty nice! We put in the Roma tomatoes, 3 kinds of peppers, lettuces (3 kinds? Inc. Boston bibb, which I hope comes back), eggplants, spinach, and cucumbers. We brought upstairs the lemon verbena, orange and peppermint, confetti plants, tiny basil, and I think there is more. And I know there will BE more. But a good first round, don't you think?

And, we dance

Tyler and I have been taking dance lessons! Oh yeah. We had a fun first lesson, a grumpy two lessons, and the last two have been awesome. Super tons of funny. We definitely like to laugh at ourselves, and we are learning and not bickering as much. I am trying to be a good 'dancer' and Tyler is trying to be a good 'choreographer,' as our dance instructors place our roles. Our instructors are from Dance Caliente, and this has to be the most fun class I've taken with NO DRAMA. I took ballroom in college. And while I really enjoyed it, it was all liek theaTer. Think Jenna Maroney from 30 Rock saying theataar. This is just silly fun and we are learning!

We are dancing at Springstep in Medford, and it pretty much rocks. Super easy to get to, always parking, great instructors, and pretty darn fun(um, read FUNNY!). We swirl and twirl and do airplane moves. We saw our friend at the bar last night and he says he drives by there once a week to hockey and always wondering who the nuts are up there -- it's us!

Tyler's got a little bird in his hand that keeps the beat - I mean, he's ready to take off! A little bounce in his step. Watch out Wedding Season!

May Garden

All weeded, turned, spread, and watered. Planting to come next. Not that the strawberries have minded!
