BEST BIRTHDAY EVER (EVER EVER)

I've never been whisked away for the weekend before! Tyler planned a whole birthday weekend in Portland, ME. A place we both love. Friday started out with business class Amtrak tickets on the Downeaster from Boston to Portland. So easy, comfortable, and frankly more luxurious than a plane!

And he surprised me by choosing the Pomegranate Inn. The room he got us reminded him of our sweetheart nest on Star in Cottage C. That was a lovely close-up! This room, however, had running water and a beautiful bath, not to mention art, and a big comfy bed and working fireplace!
AND! Chocolate and cheese! Thank you!
I discovered my favorite new combination - water cracker, brie, and white chocolate. Holy yum, you should try it.

Mea Culpa

If someone else posted as little as I did, I'd be pissed too. I expect something once a day, if not three times a day from other blogs I read!

I'm working on it. But the phone is missing, and that's my camera! More to come soon!

Oh, but! I just did these quick save the dates for my friend at work - what do you think?!

Midnight Cookies

Why I love My Love? Well, for one thing, he doesn't blink about making cookies at 11:50 at night. Yum!

These delicious guys have golden raisons, dried cranberries, dried cherries, and something else? in them! And we ran out of brown sugar, so Tyler used molasses and honey. They were sooo light and fluffy and subtly sweet. So good!

November Summer

Remmeber I said it's been like 60 all November?

Take a look at this beauty!

I thought it was fake for a good long time (People do that around here, plant silk flowers in their garden year round. Ick). But it's not. It's sibling was wilting beside it as I took this. Gorgeous!

Warm November Nights

What the what?! It's been like 60 degrees all November!

So we've been having back porch cocktails. I'm actually getting kind of sick even looking at these pictures, but ya know, all alcohol is good going down...

Sparkling Blood Orange Juice and Prosecco

and Chess, of course...

Luke's Liquors

No one knows my hometown unless I say that I live in the same town as Luke's. I have struck up many conversations over this sacred ground for all things micro, vined, and malted. Oh yeah, and cheap!

So I took a trip home and took a trip to Lukes and brought home some new tries and old favorites! I can't wait till they start stocking beers from the mid-west. Hear that, Massachusetts? Start taking all distributors! Hear that giant beer moguls? Make room for the small brews!

Beer of the month club

We've been getting boxes of beer every third month for about a year now. So we've received about 4 boxes. We get 12 beers, 3 of each kind, 4 kinds. How's some math, for ya? There are two international breweries and two micro US breweries represented. And the first three boxes have been crap. Lucky if we get one good beer, and usually not even. How is "malt liquor" a beer? It was nasty. THIS box however, was great! So we actually drank them instead of trying to pawn off to friends!
