Veal Stew

Is delicious. I highly recommend it. Cumin, veal, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, tomatoes...Whatever secret ingredients Tyler adds. Yum. Savory. Delicious.

Yeah, I know we need to clean it! Whatever.

Coming home. Over 400mi drive.

Our walk tired us out just enough. We drove the second leg of our trip to Tyler's folks house for a surprise visit. They were delighted, and so were we. Saw the folks, and saw Tyler's Dad and friend off to snowmobiling adventure. Fixed the computer, had a great chat, and cleaned out the fridge! It's no different at your house is it?

Then drove home and had leftovers. Passed out on the couch. Over 400 mi driven in 24 hours! Got a lot accomplished, dont you think?

This is how Tyler does leftovers in our house:
Homemade pita, hummus, and all the fixings. Nice dinner after short long weekend!

Uh, the baby had a baby

Tyler ordered another ukelele - and they sent him a baritone uke. And he wanted one anyway, so it was a Great Magnet mistake that wasn't really a mistake...

And now we have two Uke babies

Vase Project - Part One

Been seeing these super expensive dipped in gold paint vases lately. I love spray paint and tape and vases. So I'm making my own version.

Three vases from GoodWill: $6.00
Painters Art Tape, various sizes: Art store.Various prices.
Spray paint - $3? depends on color and finish

Heat Wave!

In case you hadn't heard, New England is having an unprecedented heat wave! Mid-60s all week, and it's NOVEMBER. I have seriously considered bringing legislation that everyone should get a "sun" day instead of a "snow" day every time the weather hits over 55 after November 1. We'd have this whole gorgeous week off instead of wasting it inside. I hope all you folks are getting as much as you can!

Which brings me to last night, a cool, crisp, unseasonably warm pitch black night. Day Light savings is getting the best of us already, so we are trying to enjoy as much of the warm air as possible. So decked out in sweatpants, sweatshirt, and knit hat, we hit the back porch. Perfect night for some smoke, hammock, and conversation with my love.

Well, it all started when Tyler surprised me by wallpapering the freezerbox with some of my wrapping paper. I never thought he would do it because I suggested wallpapering it another time, and he was not into the idea. I love love love it! So glad he did it. A beautiful spark of inspiration.

Then our inspiration went further, and I should credit Tyler again - Why dont we put all the stuff we collected from our trips (Europe 2 1/2 months!) on the fridge? But what if we move? I asked. We'll take it with us! We can mount the door on the wall! Nice. Here we go.

 Lots of edited stuff -

Cali, Passport beer fest, Halloween, Star, Europe, beers, Matt and Lisa's wedding, Disney, Monopoly

My honey helper monkey
More collected stuff! This side is from Chicago
More Chicago

Ta Da!

We're getting there! More to do on the front, and then we move on to the left side!

Basil and Scones - Typical Thursday

Getting ready to go to Tyler's parents for the weekend, so it's a baking night!
But first, my love for this basil:

Ok, now on to the cooking! Tyler says that floured butter is much better than just butter. That's your cooking tip for the day. I forgot to ask him the why part. I can get back to you, or you can just trust him. I would!

Tyler's new creation - scone cookies. They were yummy. And unfortunately, it was much easier to eat 10 or 20 at a time...

Home on the Range

Cannot WAIT to get home today. Got to work super early so I could leave early. We did a deep clean of the house on Saturday, and believe it or not, we are both motivated to clean the rest of the house. Our living room looks completely different now that we got rid of the carpet and brought out cowhide in. Much more rustic, less cluttered, a relief! Pictures of that to come. We also had some sort of mind bending creative experience last night. We both came up with such great ideas for the rest of the house. So that means we are deep cleaning bedroom and rearranging furniture and making a headboard and a new lighting fixture. Making, not buying, making. It's sometimes great to had a Dad who collects stuff. We will be putting a lot of it to good work! So the transformation begins! Look for it all here! Oh, and I get to change my Mucha calendar to October! See, it's a great day!

From our walk last night (food, football, puppy!, coffee, ice cream)

Are these the most gigantic zinnias you've ever seen? That's what they are, right?

Peppers - bell, habanero, scotch bonnets - bring on the salsa!

And also brussell sprouts, lettuce, and eggplant. The peas didn't makes it.

Vining Cucumbers. Babies - you should see them now!
