beer pilgramage

Our now annual pilgrimage to Portsmouth NH for the NHPTV Passport event began on Friday night.  Tyler and I headed up and headed out. First stop (after getting lost? How does that happen?!) was Daniel Street Tavern. It was so much more crowded than I think we'd ever seen it before. It was karaoke night, but we've seen that in the past. Something special was in the air!

It was true. We were all of a sudden being serenaded by a huge man to Lady GaGa's Bad Romance. It was stunning.
Actually, it was hilarious and really really good!
The Press Room:
I swear, Smuttynose owns this town.
These sandwich boards where

in front of practically every restaurant.
And there are a bunch of other
local breweries in the area...
Cocktails and Swords.
Tyler ordered a dirty martini.

Aren't we swank?

The Rusty Hammer included ambiance, hot dogs and chips, waffle fries (they have the best, and we have tried A LOT), and jello shots.

 Ah, finally, we went home:

And Tim and Amanda FINALLY got there! We celebrated with whiskey cokes, good English cider, and tequila + pineapple chasers (this is a must and learned on the go in Noe Valley, SF).

Ok, next morning we got up. And went day drinking.

We started out at the Rusty Hammer for brunch - best bloody mary's and mimosas in town! Waffle fries, a-plenty. Our waitress was awesome and told us to go hit the docks for our next drink. Tyler and I looked at each other and then her with deep confusion. Drinking on the water, and we had never been there in our entire Star Island Day off life? What was going on here???

So, we went off to find the wizard! And stopped to shop in the meantime. Tyler and Tim headed for Daniel Street, as it was percieved to be on the way to these illusive dock drinking locations. Amanda and I headed to Serendipity (Jess and my FAV) and Scallops Mineral and Shell Emporium to pick up some gems.

Then Daniel Street, which was at the pace we remembered it, and not the frenetic-ness of the night before.

Then, we found it! The mysterious docks. I cannot believe Tyler and I never knew about this! It was perfect!

The Gundalow!

Ahh, a day at the sea!
We did a little more shopping on the way back to Market Street. I went to the newstand and we went to a new thrift store.

Tyler asked me how my day was. I said I was having the best day off ever!

We  then took a cab back to the hotel to get pretty! See all the beer tasting event pics by clicking here
